Project Description
The Art Center aims to honour the legacy of Egyptian born artist and scholar, who is a leading authority on Arabic art and design.
Nestled in Mansoureya, Egypt, the gallery will house his abstract 2D and 3D islamic compositions that take inspiration from the Holy Quran. Other uses of the space include a designated studio workspace for the artist, outdoor urban seating as well as potential space for other artists to exhibit their works.
To minimise the use of concrete, the gallery will be constructed using a jack arch system made of metropolymer, a locally upcycled brick made from surplus materials from construction sites and factories. All supporting columns will also be built entirely from the metropolymer brick, ensuring structural cohesion and sustainability throughout the design.
